We are currently recruiting for an experienced Freelance Site Manager to oversee a refurbishment project at a school in Sheffield, commencing on 6th July. This is an initial 8-week contract delivering refurbishment and improvement works within an educational environment. Following successful completion of the project, there is a strong opportunity to move directly onto another scheme with the contractor, providing continuity of work.
The works involve the refurbishment and upgrade of school facilities, including:
- Internal refurbishment and fit-out works.
- Plastering and decoration packages.
- Painting and finishing works.
- Joinery and carpentry works.
- Building repairs and maintenance works.
- General refurbishment and improvement works across the school estate.
You will be responsible for managing site operations, coordinating subcontractors, and ensuring the project is delivered safely, on programme, and to the required quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Day-to-day management of site activities.
- Coordinating subcontractors and trades on site.
- Monitoring health and safety compliance.
- Managing programme delivery and site progress.
- Conducting site inspections and quality checks.
- Liaising with clients, subcontractors, and the wider project team.
- Maintaining site records and reporting progress.
- Managing site logistics, deliveries, and workforce coordination.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Site Manager on refurbishment, fit-out, or building projects.
- Experience working within live or occupied environments would be advantageous.
- Strong ability to manage multiple trades and subcontractors.
- Excellent health and safety knowledge.
- SMSTS certification.
- First Aid qualification.
- CSCS Card.
- Enhanced DBS Certificate (essential).
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
