We are recruiting on behalf of our client, for a highly organised legal secretary to join their busy private client team in Macclesfield. The role is part-time, working 22-30 hours per week. This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside specialists on a broad range of wills, probate, estate administration, LPAs, and related private client matters, supporting high quality work and helping to deliver an exceptional client experience.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide secretarial and administrative support to the private client team, ensuring all work is produced accurately and in line with firm standards.
  • Act as the first point of contact for new enquiries by phone and via the firm’s website, handling clients with professionalism, empathy, and discretion.
  • Manage file administration (paper and electronic), including opening, closing, storing, retrieving, and maintaining client records in accordance with internal procedures and compliance requirements.
  • Prepare and format legal documents, including correspondence, forms, probate papers, and other private client documentation; audio and copy typing to a high standard.
  • Support the progression of matters by understanding key legal timelines, procedural requirements, and ensuring documents meet required standards.
  • Assist with diary management, scheduling appointments, preparing meeting packs, and coordinating client communications.

About you:

  • Previous experience as a legal secretary or legal administrator desirable, ideally within a private client, wills, or probate team.
  • Strong typing skills with excellent accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Highly organised, efficient, and confident managing a varied workload in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient with case management systems, ideally P4W, and comfortable updating workflows and maintaining accurate electronic records.
  • Professional, empathetic, and client-focused, able to handle sensitive matters with discretion and care.
