The City of London Corporation through the City Bridge Foundation, the trustee of a 900‑year‑old historic charity, is seeking a senior leader to provide strategic and operational leadership of the Foundation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the overall strategic direction, leadership and management of the charity, reporting to the Chair of City Bridge Foundation and the Town Clerk & Chief Executive of the City of London Corporation.
- Work closely with elected Trustees, providing strategic advice, ensuring strong governance, legal compliance and effective decision‑making.
- Be accountable for stewardship, maintenance and security of the bridges, including Tower Bridge.
- Lead the Foundation’s charitable funding and social investment activity.
- Manage a senior leadership team and a workforce of around 160 staff, fostering a positive, inclusive and high‑performing culture.
- Promote best practice in charitable governance and funding as Head of Profession for Charities across the City of London Corporation.
Qualifications and Experience
- Senior leadership experience operating in a complex organisation or charity/non‑profit sector or a public‑facing body.
- Strong knowledge of charitable governance and regulation.
- Sound financial and commercial judgement.
- Ability to build trusted relationships with Trustees, senior officers and external partners.
- Commitment to values‑led leadership, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Contract and Remuneration
- Salary: £137,120 – £157,670 per annum.
- Contractual hours: 35 per week.
