Role Overview: This role supports the City’s trading standards functions, enforcing legislation, protecting consumers and working with partner agencies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Enforce trading standards legislation across the City of London.
- Investigate and address rogue traders and investment scams that threaten the City’s reputation.
- Collaborate closely with the City of London Police and other partner agencies.
- Develop and implement projects that address contemporary trading standards issues.
- Provide guidance and support to businesses to ensure compliance with trading standards.
Qualifications:
- Dynamic individual with solid enforcement experience across the full range of trading standards legislation.
- Recognised trading standards qualification preferred. Alternatively, considerable relevant knowledge and experience will be considered.
- Standard level of DBS required; no security vetting is required but a successful applicant must obtain an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check.
Salary & Working Hours:
- Salary range: £49,140 – £66,670 (inclusive of London weighting).
- Contract: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:15am – 5:00pm with a 45‑minute unpaid lunch break.

- Annual leave entitlement and flexible weekend working where possible.
