The City of Liverpool College is the largest further education college in the Liverpool City Region. The Role
- Ensuring students are making progress and achieve their targets and personal goals.
- Enabling progression to higher levels of study or employment/apprenticeships.
- To be the Advocate for the student.
- Ensure the pastoral support is in place for students.
Key Responsibilities
- To contribute fully to the Strategic Plan of the College ensuring its effective implementation in all aspects of college life.
- To work collaboratively with curriculum to plan and implement the delivery of the transition into college for all learners.
- To plan and implement the delivery of the Preparation for Learning (student induction programme) in partnership with the curriculum teams.
- To ensure that students are enrolled on the correct programme of study through the implementation of progress reviews.
- To plan and prepare high quality Personal Development group sessions using effective teaching and learning techniques.
- To establish and maintain electronic progress plans for all designated students.
- Meeting students for 1:1 Progress Reviews to monitor progress and performance.
- To work with cross college teams and curriculum to support students' career ambitions.
- To identify and ensure appropriate interventions are put in place for students who are at risk.
- Advocate for all learners and liaise/refer to internal and external support teams where necessary.
- To facilitate the gathering of student voice and feedback.
- Develop an effective and supportive partnership with parents or guardians.
- To attend meetings and events as required.
- Share ideas, resources, and good practice regarding personal development group sessions.
- Establish a purposeful and motivating learning environment.
- Establish and maintain procedures with students which promote appropriate behaviour and respect for others.
- To ensure accurate capture of destination data.
- Supporting the completion of UCAS applications and the writing of references.
- To work with colleagues and address additional students' English and Maths and study skills development.
- To review own professional development needs and participate fully in future training and development.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Essential Criteria
- Educated to Level 4 e.g., Degree or equivalent.
- Excellent computer literacy.
- Knowledge and understanding of Tutorial Provision or Personal Development.
- Experience of working with vulnerable young people.
- Knowledge of post 16 qualifications.
- Minimum of Level 2 literacy and numeracy or willingness to complete.
- High level of communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to set high standards for students, colleagues and for themselves.
- Ability to manage tight deadlines and conflicting priorities.
- Knowledge of safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusivity.
- Experience of assessing students' needs and planning curriculum for their benefit.
Desirable Criteria
- A recognised Teaching qualification or vocational experience.
- Professional qualification relevant to the subject area.
- Engaged in Continuing Professional Development.
- Excellent organisational and record keeping skills.
- Membership of a relevant professional body.
- Good understanding of curriculum development.
- Good understanding of quality assurance and improvement processes.
