We're looking for a Digital Marketing Officer (Content and Social) to join our Marketing and Communications team at The City of Liverpool College. This is a creative, audience-facing role that sits at the centre of how we tell the College's story. You'll own our organic social media channels, plan and create content that engages prospective and current students, and manage community interactions day to day. You'll work closely with our Digital Content Creator to shape campaigns and content across platforms.

We are looking for someone who understands what makes content land: someone who is a confident public speaker with the ability to command a room, has a sharp eye for a good story, and is confident both in front of the camera and behind it. You'll become a familiar face across our channels, comfortable interviewing students, colleagues and partners to find the stories worth telling.

Key Responsibilities
  • Social media and community management
    • Plan, create, and schedule organic social media content across our channels as part of the annual integrated media plan, maintaining a consistent and engaging presence.
    • Actively manage community engagement, monitoring and responding to comments, conversations, and mentions in line with College brand guidance.
    • Produce and adapt content natively for each platform, including short-form video for TikTok, Instagram, and other emerging formats.
    • Identify and pursue opportunities to grow reach, build audience, and tell the College's story authentically across platforms.
    • Support the management of sponsored and boosted social content in collaboration with the Digital Marketing Officer (Paid and Performance).
  • Content and storytelling
    • Find, develop, and publish student, staff, and alumni stories that bring the College's impact to life across digital channels.
    • Present and interview for video content, drawing out stories from students, staff and partners as the recognisable face of our channels.
    • Shoot and edit social-first video for reels, stories and other short-form formats, working quickly and independently to capture content as it happens.
    • Work closely with the Digital Content Creator to plan and commission photography and video assets, ensuring content is fit for purpose across channels.
    • Write engaging, student-focused copy for social media, digital campaigns, and the website, aligned to the College's tone of voice and brand guidelines.
    • Identify content opportunities proactively, building relationships with curriculum teams and student-facing staff across the College.
    • Manage a content calendar that reflects the academic year, key recruitment milestones, and planned campaigns.
    • Provide occasional cover for wider photography and video capture in Digital Content Creator’s absence.
  • Campaign support
    • Contribute to the planning and delivery of integrated student recruitment campaigns, providing social and content expertise.
    • Work alongside the Digital Marketing Officer (Paid and Performance) to ensure organic and paid activity are aligned and complementary.
    • Collaborate with our creative agency on campaign content, providing direction on organic social and briefing content requirements.
    • Develop a working familiarity with the team's paid media activity, including an understanding of campaign objectives and audience targeting, to support joined-up planning and communication.
  • Website and digital content
    • Create and publish web content as required, using the CMS to maintain accuracy, accessibility, and brand consistency.
    • Support the team with email content where social or storytelling expertise is needed.
  • Analytics and reporting
    • Track and report on the performance of organic social channels and content, using platform analytics and agreed reporting tools.
    • Use performance data to inform content decisions, testing new formats and approaches where appropriate.
    • Contribute to quarterly channel performance reporting.
    • Stay current with social media trends, platform developments, and what competitor and peer institutions are doing.
  • Brand and compliance
    • Ensure all content adheres to the College's brand guidelines and tone of voice.
    • Comply with relevant legislation, including GDPR, copyright, and digital accessibility standards.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Essential Criteria
    • Qualification or equivalent experience in design, marketing or communications.
    • Experience managing social media channels professionally, with a strong understanding of platform trends and audience behaviour.
    • Confident and capable content creator with demonstrable experience producing platform-native photo and video content, including short-form formats.
    • Experience planning and scheduling social media content as part of a wider campaign or editorial calendar.
    • Strong storytelling ability, with the skill to find and shape compelling stories from across an organisation.
    • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to write clearly and engagingly across channels and audiences.
    • A collaborative team player who is comfortable working across a small, integrated team and sharing knowledge to support collective delivery.
    • Confident, warm and engaging on camera, with experience presenting, interviewing or hosting.
  • Desirable Criteria
    • Experience managing sponsored or boosted social content, including basic audience targeting and budget management.
    • Experience working with photographers, videographers, or other content creators to develop rich media content.
    • Comfortable using CMS platforms and maintaining website content to brand standards.
    • Experience working with creative agencies or external partners.
