The Business Leader Dual Professional will form part of a collaborative network of industry professionals working in partnership with the City of Liverpool College to enrich the learning experience of BTEC and T-Level Business Students. The role involves designing and delivering live, real-world business projects, sharing industry expertise, and supporting the development of students as future entrepreneurs and employable professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivery of Live Industry Projects: Design and lead industry-relevant projects aligned to BTEC assessment requirements. Provide students with real business challenges, briefs, and case studies. Deliver guest sessions, workshops and project kick-offs. Support students through project milestones, providing feedback and insight.
  • Collaborate with College Staff: Work closely with teaching staff to align projects with curriculum outcomes. Contribute to co-planning sessions and review meetings. Support assessment where appropriate (e.g. judging presentations, providing industry feedback).
  • Student Development & Mentorship: Inspire and develop student’s entrepreneurial mindset (Growth Mindset v Fixed Mindset). Offer mentoring, coaching and career insight. Support students in developing commercial awareness, communication, presentation skills, problem solving, innovation and professional behaviours.
  • Employer & Industry Engagement: Leverage personal and professional networks to introduce additional guest speakers or collaborators, create further project opportunities, and expand employer engagement across the programme. Act as an ambassador for the College within the local business community.
  • Contribution to Programme Enrichment: Participate in employer panels, enterprise events, and showcases. Support competitions, enterprise challenges, or innovation events. Provide insight into current industry trends and practices.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Essential: Must be actively running their own business. Demonstrable experience across key areas of business operations, including (but not limited to): strategy and planning, marketing and sales, financial management, operations and service delivery, business growth and development. Extensive network of local business contacts and professionals. Ability and willingness to collaborate with other employers across the academic year. Strong understanding of entrepreneurship and business development. Ability to translate real-world business challenges into learning experiences. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Ability to engage and inspire young people aged 16-21. Passionate about developing future talent. Collaborative and team oriented. Innovative and solution focussed. Professional, reliable and committed.

Desirable: Previous experience working in education providers or with young people. Experience mentoring or coaching aspiring entrepreneurs. Experience contributing to curriculum design or project-based learning.
