A Field Operations Superintendent position is available with the City of Fort Worth Park & Recreation Department, Golf Division. This technical and administrative position oversees the maintenance operations of Rockwood Park Golf Course, Pecan Valley Golf Course, and Meadowbrook Golf Course.
While the work is technical in nature, there is a strong focus on customer service and accountability. The ideal candidate for this job is not only experienced in municipal golf course maintenance operations but is also an effective communicator with strong leadership and team-building abilities.
Minimum Qualifications:- Associate's degree from an accredited college in Engineering or a related field
- Five (5) years of increasing responsible experience in field construction, maintenance, and operations related to assigned field operations division
- Two (2) years of administrative and supervisory responsibility.
- Valid driver's license
- Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Turf Science, or related field
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate Texas Department of Agriculture Pesticide License.
- Five (5) years supervisory experience in golf course maintenance, with a focus on municipal golf course operations.
- Knowledge and experience with warm season grasses, i.e. TifEagle and TifTuf
- Serve as a technical expert regarding construction of golf amenities and subsequent maintenance, repair, and inspections of golf infrastructure
- Oversee the turf maintenance operations at Rockwood Park Golf Course, Pecan Valley Golf Course, & Meadowbrook Golf Course
- Maintain detailed records and reports of turf maintenance activities and compare results with goals and regulatory standards
- Conduct organizational studies, investigations; and recommend modification to field operation programs, policies, and procedures as needed
- Coordinate with contractors, golf industry experts, USGA Agronomy Team, and the public regarding assigned operations and services
- Encourage and support staff training that aligns with preventative maintenance and construction program goals
- Perform field inspections to ensure supervisor and technical staff compliance with safety protocols
- Participate in preparing and administering annual budgets, major programs, and projects
- Supervise staff, which includes prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff is trained; ensuring employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and making hiring, termination, and disciplinary decisions or recommendations
- Estimate equipment needs and develop proposed specifications for procurement
- Prepare daily/weekly/monthly work plans, establish priorities, and assign tasks to supervisors and technical staff
- Coordinate with Park project management group on various in-house projects
- Assist Park development in the preparation of construction plans and specifications, able to read construction plans and provide staff direction in completion of in-house capital projects
- Develop and maintain Inclement Weather work schedule and work
