Salary: £29,173 – £33,287 per annum (plus additional payments for shifts, overtime, winter & summer on‑call, and potential disturbance payments of £1,635)
Hours: 36 per week, 52 weeks per year

About the role
Skilled Roadworkers are key members of the Roads Operations Team, responsible for delivering road and street maintenance and improvements, and for keeping people moving safely around the City during winter weather.
Responsibilities
- Drive appropriate vehicles, maintain them, and complete required checks and paperwork.
- Provide first point of contact with the local community, advising on service‑related issues and ensuring high standards of customer care.
- Use handheld technology to record and report job details.
- Operate and maintain equipment and machinery used within roads operations.
- Work with minimum supervision, prioritise workloads, and meet relevant standards and timescales.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Full UK Driving C1 Licence (or commitment to obtain within 6 months).
- Experience in drainage, surfacing, hardland scaping, carriageway marking / slabbing‑kerbing in a roads environment.
- Ability to work with handheld technology.
- Sound knowledge of roads-operations equipment and machinery.
- Strong communication skills, especially with members of the public.
