We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our STEM faculty to support the teaching staff in the Science Department.
Responsibilities:- Ensure equipment is maintained and adequate levels of materials and equipment are available for use by teachers and students.
- Assist the teaching staff in demonstrating the use of equipment.
- Prepare materials, equipment and science areas for use by teachers and students.
- Assist in demonstrating the use of equipment and apparatus and coach junior staff in its usage.
- Design and construct equipment and apparatus for use in experiments.
- Maintain an adequate range of stock and efficient stock levels, including maintaining a stores system and completing purchase orders for approval by the Curriculum Leader in line with Council Purchasing procedures.
- Ensure stores are well organised and maintained.
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. If an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out of the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required and must be provided. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre‑employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
