Pupil Support Worker - Broughton Primary School

Salary: £27,257 - £29,850 (pro rata for part time and sessional)

Hours: 27.50 per week, 39 weeks sessional

The school is centred on the community of Broughton, just north of Edinburgh city centre. Our catchment area is widespread and stretches from Princes Street in the south to Warriston in the north. There is a rich social and cultural mix of pupils within the school. The school roll is around 370, organised into 14 mainstream classes and two enhanced support base (ESB) classes for pupils with additional support needs. The nursery provides a total of 65 places. Both ESB and the nursery are situated in self-contained separate buildings within the school grounds.

We are looking to recruit highly motivated and dynamic individuals to the permanent position of Pupil Support Workers (PSW) for our Enhanced Support Base Class. The PSW will need to be skilled and passionate about improving outcomes for all young people. The ESB has a provision for 16 children with a staff of 1 Principal Teacher, 1 Class Teacher, 4 PSWs, 1 full-time EYP and 2 Part-Time EYPs. This is a part-time, permanent position, working with children with a diagnosis of autism and other complex needs. Previous experience of working in Special Education is desirable.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range. Happy to talk flexible working.
