Pupil Support Officer – Fixed term until 2/4/2027, Victoria Primary School

Salary: £30,188–£34,452 (pro rata for sessional). Hours: 36 per week, 39 weeks sessional.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils in meeting their educational, care, and welfare needs.
  • Ensure that children with low SIMD, care experienced, and additional support needs can access the curriculum.
  • Promote better relationships, learning, and behaviour by liaising with the school, young people, and their families to foster mutual understanding.
  • Use evidence‑based interventions to support the emotional well‑being of individuals and groups, building strong links with families to remove barriers to involvement in school life.
  • Connect families with local authority parenting groups and relevant community organisations.
  • Provide essential assistance in the school's day‑to‑day operations as directed by the leadership team.

Eligibility & Pre‑Employment Checks

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. If an individual has spent a continuous period of three months or more abroad within the last five years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required and must be provided. An unconditional offer of employment will be subject to the outcome of these checks being satisfactory.
