St Crispin’s is a special school for primary and secondary age pupils. The school meets the needs of learners with complex, long term additional support needs who require a significantly modified learning environment. The needs of learners are primarily associated with intellectual disabilities and Autism Spectrum Disorders. Each class has a maximum of 6 learners.
Pupil Support Officers work as part of a class team, along with the class teacher, to support each learner to reach their full potential. As a PSO you will have increased responsibility within the team to support the teacher in leading small group sessions and individualising interventions for pupils.
It is desirable that applicants should have experience working with children with learning disabilities and Autism Spectrum Disorder.
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
