Salary: £30,188 - £34,452 (pro‑rata for part‑time and sessional)

Hours: 29.75 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 08:45 – 15:45, Friday 08:45 – 12:30, 39 weeks sessional.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic individual who can work collaboratively as a member of the school team to help pupils meet their educational, care and welfare needs, ensuring those with intensive and complex and/or a high level of language support needs can effectively access the curriculum.

The successful candidate will work directly with parents of pupils to provide advice and give feedback on matters relating to their child. They must be flexible and provide support and assistance in the day‑to‑day operations of the school as directed by the school leadership team.

Canal View Primary School serves the community of Wester Hailes. The school has a broad social mix and the catchment contains areas of multiple deprivation with 75 % of our learners living in SIMD 1 and 2. The school receives both Positive Action funding and Pupil Equity funding.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. If an individual has spent a continuous period of three months or more overseas within the last five years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. The offer of employment and commencement in the post is conditional on the satisfactory outcome of both these pre‑employment checks.
