We are currently seeking to recruit a kind, caring and passionate Pupil Support Officer to join our Integrated Pupil Support Team. The Integrated Support Team provides a safe and welcoming approach where positive relationships and trauma‑informed practices help young people achieve their potential. The role focuses on developing social, emotional and communication skills alongside support to access the academic curriculum. The successful candidate will also lead on supporting learners who face barriers to their learning and/or require support with attendance and wellbeing due to poverty.
Responsibilities:
- Build trusting relationships with children and their families.
- Support learners with additional support needs and those facing barriers to learning.
- Provide training support to enable effective delivery of the role.
- Collaborate with the Integrated Pupil Support Team to implement trauma‑informed practices.
- Lead on attendance and wellbeing support for learners experiencing poverty.
Qualifications:
- Experience as a PSA in secondary or primary settings, or experience working with children with additional support needs.
- Demonstrated ability to build trusting relationships with young people.
- Commitment to upholding Health & Wellbeing and inclusive practice.
- Knowledge in trauma‑informed approaches is an asset.
The role is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. If an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out of the UK in the last 5 years, an overseas criminal record check will be required. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement will be subject to satisfactory completion of these pre‑employment checks.
