Salary: £26,806-£27,032

Hours: 27.5 per week, 39 weeks sessional

Working pattern for position is 8.40am-3.25pm Mon to Thurs and 8.40am-12.30pm on Fridays, Term Time only.

We are looking for conscientious, committed candidates with excellent inter‑personal and communication skills. It is essential that candidates have a flexible mindset and the ability to use their own initiative. This active role also includes elements of personal care which require patience and a caring, practical nature. The successful candidate will need the ability to stay calm under pressure and be solution focused. Working as part of a team and there will be many training opportunities to support you in working with our children and young people. Previous experience of working in a school would be desirable.

Brunstane Primary School is a non-denominational primary school which serves the Brunstane, Bingham and Magdalene area of East Edinburgh. For session 2025-26, we have 14 classes P1-7 including our ESB with a school roll of approximately 270 and a nursery with capacity for 92 children.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre‑employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
