Acting Principal Teacher – Fixed Term until 26/06/2026
Salary: £57,360
Hours: 35 per week
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the senior leadership team at Niddrie Mill Primary School in the capacity of acting principal teacher. In addition to a class teaching commitment, the acting Principal Teacher will have whole‑school leadership responsibility for developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating key areas of the curriculum across the school, and will be an active member of the school leadership team.
There will be a need to keep up‑to‑date with current theories and practice relating to effective and inclusive learning and teaching, and to ensure that appropriate implementation occurs throughout the school. Working closely with the Headteacher, you will lead and model excellence in learning, teaching and assessment, and lead professional learning for staff around pedagogy and curriculum innovation.
As part of the senior leadership team you will be responsible for modelling and supporting others to live out our refreshed school values of Aim High, Be Kind and Be Safe.

Required Checks
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out of the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required and must be provided. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both pre‑employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
Salary Information
Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.
