We are seeking a dedicated and professional Forensic Mortuary Technician to join our Councils Forensic Services team. This unique and rewarding opportunity will contribute to the delivery of high quality mortuary and forensic provision supporting the work of pathologists and COPFS.

Responsibilities

  • You will be responsible for the care and management of the deceased, assisting with post‑mortem examinations and ensuring that the mortuary standards as defined by the Scottish Government are met.
  • You will work closely with police, COPFS, pathologists and funeral directors, maintaining the dignity of the deceased and sensitivity towards the bereaved at all times.

Qualifications

  • Experience of working in a mortuary, healthcare or related environment.
  • Knowledge of mortuary standards documents and good practice, health and safety and infection control.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality and accuracy in all circumstances.
  • A caring and respectful approach when dealing with the deceased and the bereaved.
  • Physical capability to carry out manual handling duties.
  • Understanding that on‑call and out‑of‑hours will be required.
  • A diploma (Level 3 or above) in Anatomical Pathology Technology (or willingness to work towards) is essential.
