Salary: £24,533 – £24,796

Hours: 36 per week

Tools Allowance: £6.21 per month

The City of Edinburgh Council is committed to assisting people within the local area by providing the opportunity to gain skills and knowledge in the world of work through our Modern (Craft) Apprenticeship Training Programme. Modern (Craft) Apprenticeships (MAs) offer new and returning entrants to the labour market the chance of paid employment combined with the opportunity to do training relevant to the occupational area. They include the opportunity to gain nationally recognised qualifications that help kick-start a career without having to study full-time.

New entrants can include school and college leavers, those with no previous work experience and/or vocational qualifications. You will be required to serve a 4-year apprenticeship in Painting and Decorating where you will learn through on site learning and academic study a range of essential skills and undertake decorating work to a high standard, maintaining council properties. You will undertake an SVQ Level 3 /SCQ Level 6 passing all exams and standards required to qualify in this trade.

Applicants must have left secondary education in the past three years or currently on a City of Edinburgh Council employability training programme or aged up to 29 with disability or care experience. Applicants must show a willingness to participate in a Modern Apprenticeship programme. Applicants must be willing to obtain a driving licence and must be able to travel to college.
