Early Years Practitioner – Fixed term until 30/4/2027 at Stenhouse Primary School, Stenhouse Nursery Class.

Salary: £30,188 to £34,452 (pro rata for part time and sessional). Hours: 36 per week (39 weeks sessional).

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Early Years Practitioner to join the nursery, covering a maternity leave until Spring 2027. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in building strong family links, a passion for the outdoors, and experience with additional support needs and multi‑agency working.

Working hours:

  • Monday – Thursday: 08:00 – 16:00
  • Friday: 08:00 – 14:30

Key responsibilities / duties:

  • Provide high quality early years care and education to children in the nursery.
  • Foster strong relationships with families.
  • Plan and deliver outdoor and imaginative learning activities.
  • Work collaboratively with the team, including those with additional support needs.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Experience in early years education.
  • Experience with families and building strong family links.
  • Experience with additional support needs and multi‑agency working.
  • Passion for outdoor learning.
  • Strong adaptability and teamwork skills.

Pre‑employment checks:

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will need to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. If you have spent a continuous period of 3 months or more abroad in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. Successful completion of these checks is a condition of employment.
