Position Title: Housing Assistant – Ukraine Response – fixed term until 31/03/2027.
Location: City Chambers.
Remuneration and Hours: Salary: £26,337 – £28,835 per annum. Hours: 36 per week.
Role Summary: Housing Assistant for the Homeless Team attached to the Ukraine Response. This office-based role involves providing administrative and organisational support to Housing Officers and Lead Officer currently engaging with displaced Ukrainians seeking support with homeless prevention, housing options advice, or requiring statutory homeless duties in Edinburgh.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative and organisational support to Housing Officers and Lead Officer.
- Engage with displaced people (face‑to‑face, via email, MS Teams, or telephone) to provide general advice, refer appropriately for targeted support, or schedule appointments with a Housing Officer.
- Work closely with Housing Officers, Lead Officer, and other teams/organisations involved in the wider Ukrainian response, homelessness and temporary accommodation.
Requirements and Checks:
- Regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
- The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check.
- Individuals with a continuous period of 3 months or more outside the UK within the last 5 years must provide an Overseas Criminal Record Check.
- An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both pre‑employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
