As a cleaner with the City of Edinburgh Council, you will be a key member of our Facilities Management team. You will deliver a vital cleaning service across our estate to ensure our properties are safe and clean places to work or learn. Key Tasks / Job Activities

  • Empty litter and recycling bins
  • Clean all surfaces, internal glass, floors, furniture, fixtures and fittings within a group of buildings
  • Clean all sanitary areas, toilets and showers, and replenish washroom consumables
  • Provide emergency and reactive cleaning as required (e.g., removal of graffiti, body fluid spillages, accidental spillages)
  • Maintain the care and cleanliness of all equipment used for cleaning duties
  • Support cleaning tasks across other buildings as reasonably requested
  • Deliver to cleaning specification requirements and cooperate with performance measurements so that agreed standards are met
  • Act as a key holder, operating security alarm systems and ensuring buildings are safely closed; switching off lights and securing premises

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate must join or update their PVG Scheme. If you have spent 3 months or more outside the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required.
