Salary: £34,452 - £40,501 (pro-rata for part-time and sessional)

Hours: 30 per week, 39 weeks sessional

Working pattern for position is Monday to Friday.

At Kaimes School, we are committed to providing a nurturing, inclusive, ambitious learning environment for young people with additional support needs. We are looking to appoint a skilled and enthusiastic Senior Pupil Support Officer who shares our commitment to relationships, inclusion and high-quality care and learning for every learner.

Kaimes School is a secondary special school located in the southeast of the City of Edinburgh that caters for 96 young people. Most of our learners have a diagnosis of Autism, and many have a range of other additional support needs. We are looking for a practitioner who will help support with the training, mentoring and induction of pupil support staff, in addition to other responsibilities including supporting with GIRFEC processes and family liaison.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively as part of a highly supportive staff team and will contribute to the wider life of the school. Experience working with young people with complex additional needs is desirable.

The post provides an exciting opportunity to join a committed community focused on improving outcomes for learners through compassion, consistency and collaboration. This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
