Firrhill High School serves the area of South West Edinburgh. In partnership with our five associated primary schools Bonaly, Colinton, Longstone, Oxgangs and Pentland, we strive to “Provide learning opportunities of the highest quality.” Our school values are founded on respect for self and others, tolerance and support.

We are one of the largest schools in Edinburgh with a roll of 1300 pupils and 130 staff. This provides us with the opportunity to provide a wide range of curricular, interdisciplinary and extracurricular activities that meet the needs of all of our pupils. We also provide opportunities for personal achievement and support pupils to develop skills for learning, work and life.

We are looking to recruit teachers to join our dedicated staff who will be ambitious for all our pupils and are committed to supporting our young people to develop to their fullest potential. Our Pupil Support Team is hugely experienced and highly effective. Teamwork lies at the very core of that effectiveness and we will be seeking to recruit a colleague with skills and experience that can complement and enhance this already strong group. Child-centred approaches and a commitment to our ambition of excellence for all and by all will be key attributes of the successful candidate.

The work of the school is supported by an active Parent Council and Parent Teacher Association. This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
