Hours: 36 per week
These posts will work on a 4 days on, 4 days off working pattern, including working weekends. For this variable working pattern, a supplemental working time payment will be paid in addition to the advertised wage.
Vacancies have arisen for Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) Operatives at sites across Edinburgh based in the West (Bankhead) and in the East (Seafield & Craigmillar).
Postholders will be expected to:
- Help the public using the recycling centres.
- Direct and control traffic.
- Help carry and segregate waste materials.
- Keep the site in a clean and tidy condition.
- Assist on the HWRC site, receiving site users and booking them in using the booking system on the site iPhone.
- Check documentation in line with the site rules.
- Advise site users on the correct methods to recycle/dispose of their items, helping manually where appropriate.
- Cover the Weighbridge, including recording vehicle details, completing waste transfer notes & calculating vehicle weights.
- Advise vehicles where to go along with Banksmen/reverse assistant duties.
- Work within the flow of traffic when required.
- Work in accordance with the site's Safe Working Practices & Risk Assessments, protecting their safety as well as their colleagues & site users.
- Perform on-site cleaning such as litter picking, sweeping, and light weeding.
