Early Years Assistant – Permanent Dalry Primary School & Nursery

Salary: £26,806-£27,032 (pro rata for sessional 39 weeks)

Hours: 36 per week, 39 weeks per year

Working Pattern: Monday to Thursday 08:00am-16:00pm and Friday 08:00am-14:30pm

Dalry Primary School is a diverse and multicultural primary school & nursery in the city centre of Edinburgh, a short 5 or so mins walk from Haymarket Station. We are looking for an Early Years Assistant to join our enthusiastic and committed team.

The successful candidate will assist in meeting the educational, care and welfare needs of the children ensuring those with additional support needs can effectively access the curriculum. Experience of working as an Early Years Assistant is desirable.

There is a requirement to be registered with SSSC or equivalent and gain a SVQ level 2 qualification within 3 years. Good basic education and standard of Maths and English to SQA standard grade level or equivalent, or previous relevant experience is required. Good communication skills, verbal and written, is required, together with planning and organisational skills.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
