Curriculum Leader of Modern Languages - Fixed term until 30/06/2027

We have an exciting opportunity at Leith Academy. We are looking for a dynamic forward-thinking Curriculum Leader to support the great work we do with our young people of Leith in Modern Languages from 12 August 2026 until June 2027 (maternity cover).
Our vision statement is Success in Learning for All and we believe firmly in supporting the pupils in our diverse community to achieve the best they can. We support young people who speak approximately 62 different languages across our school roll of approximately 1000. We have strong take-up in our Languages courses across National, Higher and Advanced Higher level. We are also working with course pathways such as National Progression Awards and Skills for Work Awards.
Our values of Respect, Diversity, Honesty and Fairness play a key part in our work linked to Culture Day, Equalities work and our support for all young people across many different cultures. We have a dedicated team of staff in our Languages Faculty who look to help all young people from all backgrounds on a daily basis.
We are looking for an outstanding leader with excellent relationship skills, energy and integrity to continue the excellent work of our current post holder.
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.
