Early Years Practitioner – Fixed term until 18/12/2026, Duddingston Primary School

Salary: £30,188 – £34,452 (pro-rata for part-time and sessional). Hours: 36 per week, 39 weeks sessional. Working pattern: Monday – Thursday (08:00–16:15) and Friday (08:00–13:00).

We are looking for an enthusiastic early years practitioner with a nurturing approach and a commitment to delivering high quality learning experiences to children in our setting. Duddingston nursery class is part of Duddingston Primary School, a non-denominational school situated in the North East of Edinburgh and part of the Portobello Learning Community. The nursery operates on a term-time basis with 60 full‑time places for children aged 3–5 years. Built in 2016, the nursery has a secure outdoor and garden area which children have access to at all times.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of three months or more out of the UK in the last five years, an overseas criminal record check will be required. The employer will provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both pre‑employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
