Salary: £25,905 - £26,111 (pro-rata for sessional)
Hours: 36 per week, 39 weeks sessional
Working Pattern: 7:30am-15:45pm Monday to Thursday (30 min break) and Friday 8am - 13:00pm
Responsibilities
- Support children in the playrooms and throughout the learning environment through organised activities, providing support, assistance and encouragement to help each individual child achieve the best learning and development outcomes possible.
- Provide support to teachers, early years staff and children in all learning environments, including early language, mathematics, health and well-being, and other general early years activities.
- Assist in supporting young children’s creativity and skills for life and learning through play and implementation of planned programmes.
- Help children organise their day and follow instructions.
- Provide a high level of individual and personal care to children with additional support needs, encouraging independence and ensuring safety and comfort.
- Assist in providing relevant information through record keeping and attendance at appropriate meetings.
- Contribute towards the individual child’s personal learning profile.
- Assist in implementing the School or Early Years improving relationships and behaviour management policy.
- Work as part of the school/early years setting staff team, ensuring the ongoing health, safety and welfare of the children.
- Handle administrative elements of child welfare requirements, including routine documentation and information dispersal.
- Follow standard procedures for risk assessment within and out with the playrooms environment when required.
- Assist in programmes for children moving into mainstream schools/early years settings and other specialist provisions.
- Participate in appropriate professional staff development opportunities and refresher training as deemed appropriate.
Requirements and Safeguarding
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. An Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required for individuals who have spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years.
