Salary: £40,501 - £47,639

Hours: 36 per week

Location: Waverley Court (hybrid with a minimum of two days in Waverley Court; postholders may need to attend other Council offices occasionally).

The Children's Services Development Officer will work closely with other Development Officers within the service to provide support to our senior team. Candidates should be focused, enthusiastic, and able to work independently, prioritising work as required to meet deadlines.

This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidates who have a good knowledge of statutory social work services and an ability to think strategically to support development of our assurance activities. The tasks will be varied and will include:

  • Utilising skills to promote the implementation of the Council’s strategic aims
  • Developing and embedding our policies and procedures across Children's Services
  • Analysing performance data and promoting learning which may involve leading and supporting projects

Candidates should have a good understanding of children’s statutory services, together with a working knowledge of relevant legislation. Good report writing skills are essential and enthusiasm to champion our priorities and commitments through innovation is key.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection. This position is subject to a Basic Disclosure check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out of the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. The applicant will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre‑employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
