The predicted salary is between 26205 - 26525 £ per year.
Salary: £26,205 – £26,525 (pro rata for part time and sessional). Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and increases annually until it reaches the top of the range.
Hours: 15 per week, 40 weeks sessional. Monday – Friday 3pm – 6pm.
As a cleaner with the City of Edinburgh Council, you will be a key member of our Facilities Management team. You will deliver a vital cleaning service across our estate to ensure our properties remain safe and clean places to work or learn. Major Tasks / Job Activities:
- Empty litter and recycling bins.
- Clean all surfaces, internal glass, floors, furniture, fixtures and fittings within a group of buildings.
- Clean all sanitary areas, toilets and showers and replenish washroom consumables.
- Perform emergency and re‑active cleaning as required, e.g. removal of graffiti, body fluid spillages, accidental spillages.
- Care for and keep all equipment used in carrying out the above duties clean.
- Carry out other tasks as reasonably required that relate to the role, including supporting cleaning tasks across other buildings where required.
- Deliver to the cleaning specification requirements and cooperate with performance measurement so that the agreed standards are met.
Key responsibilities include:
- Keyholding to enable opening and closing of buildings.
- Operating security alarm systems.
- Closing windows and doors, switching off lights and ensuring premises are safe and secure when closing.
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out of the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre‑employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
