As a cleaner with the City of Edinburgh Council, you provide a vital cleaning service across our estate, ensuring our properties remain safe and clean places to work and learn. Responsibilities

  • Empty litter and recycling bins.
  • Clean all surfaces, internal glass, floors, furniture, fixtures and fittings within a group of buildings.
  • Clean sanitary areas, toilets and showers; replenish washroom consumables.
  • Carry out emergency and reactive cleaning when required, e.g. removing graffiti, body fluid spillages, accidental spillages.
  • Care for equipment used in cleaning.
  • Support cleaning tasks across other buildings as reasonably required.
  • Deliver to the cleaning specification and cooperate with performance measurement to meet overall standards.
  • Act as a key holder for buildings, operating security alarm systems, closing windows and doors, switching off lights, and ensuring premises are left safe and secure.

Qualifications & Requirements

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate must have or obtain a PVG Scheme check. If you have spent a continuous period of 3 months or more abroad within the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required.
