Cleaning Operative – Blackhall Library
Salary £26,205 – £26,525. Hours: 10 per week.
Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 10:00 am.
As a cleaner with the City of Edinburgh Council, you will be a key member of our Facilities Management team, delivering a vital cleaning service across our estate to ensure our properties are safe and clean places to work or learn.
Key Responsibilities
- Empty litter and recycling bins.
- Clean all surfaces, internal glass, floors, furniture, fixtures and fittings within a group of buildings.
- Clean all sanitary areas, toilets and showers and replenish washroom consumables.
- Respond to emergency and re‑active cleaning needs such as removal of graffiti, body fluid spillages and accidental spillages.
- Care for and maintain equipment used in cleaning duties.
- Perform other related tasks as required, including supporting cleaning tasks across other buildings.
- Deliver cleaning services according to specification and cooperate with performance measurements to meet agreed standards.
- Manage keyholding duties, operate security alarm systems, close windows and doors, switch off lights, and ensure premises are secure when closing.
- Key Requirements
Applicants must be able to join or update participation in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme.
If you have spent three months or more overseas in the last five years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required.
Employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of these checks.
