Location: Trinity Primary School

Contract: Fixed term until 31/03/2026

Salary: £25,322‑£25,623 (pro rata for part‑time and sessional)

Hours: 12.5 per week, 40 weeks sessional (Monday to Friday – 6:00‑8:30 am)

As a cleaner with the City of Edinburgh Council, you’ll be a key member of our Facilities Management team, delivering vital cleaning services across our estate to ensure properties are safe and clean places to work or learn in. Major responsibilities

  • Empty litter and recycling bins.
  • Clean all surfaces, internal glass, floors, furniture, fixtures, and fittings within a group of buildings.
  • Clean all sanitary areas, toilets, showers, and replenish washroom consumables.
  • Perform emergency and reactive cleaning as required, e.g. removal of graffiti, body fluid spillages, accidental spillages.
  • Maintain care and cleanliness of all equipment used in carrying out the above duties.
  • Execute other tasks reasonably required that relate to the role, including supporting cleaning tasks across other buildings, if required.
  • Deliver to the cleaning specification requirements and cooperate with performance measurement to meet overall agreed standards.
  • Keyhold responsibilities – operate security alarm systems, close accessible windows and doors, switch off lights, and ensure premises are left safe and secure when closing.

Pre‑employment requirements

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. A continuous period of 3 months or more outside the UK in the last 5 years requires an overseas criminal record check. A genuine offer of employment and commencement in the post is subject to the outcome of both pre‑employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
