Hours: 5 per week (7.45am-9.00am Mon-Thurs), 38 weeks sessional
About the school
Dean Park Primary School serves the village of Balerno, in the South West of Edinburgh. The school operates over two sites: the main campus on the Marchbank housing estate and the nursery annexe in the village. The primary school has 20 classes at P1-P7 and the nursery offers full-time spaces for up to 88 children. The school is Gold Rights Respecting and places children’s rights at the centre of its values and daily practice.
Role purpose
Dean Park’s Breakfast Club provides a safe, warm and relaxed environment for primary-age children to have breakfast and socialise before the school day. The Breakfast Club Supervisor will support the safe delivery of the breakfast club service and undertake light administration tasks related to running the club. Experience working with children is desirable but not essential.
Responsibilities
- Supervise Breakfast Club sessions to ensure a safe, welcoming environment for children.
- Assist with breakfast service and basic supervision during the session.
- Undertake light administration tasks related to Breakfast Club operations (record keeping, attendance, etc.).
- Work within school policies and safeguarding requirements, including PVG checks where applicable.
Qualifications and requirements
- Experience working with children is desirable but not essential.
- Regulated work with children and/or protected adults under PVG Scheme; candidate will be required to join PVG or undergo update checks.
- Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more outside the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required.
- Successful completion of pre-employment checks is required prior to starting the post.
