Job Description:

Mechanical Trainer / Assessor

Gen 2 is currently recruiting a Mechanical Trainer / Assessor.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join our business here in Cumbria.

This role will suit an experienced Mechanical Trainer / Mechanical Instructor or a Teacher of a Mechanical Discipline.

The role of a Mechanical Trainer / Assessor is to assess learners against the skills, knowledge and behavioural competencies laid out in their Apprenticeship Standard up to level 4.

You will deliver both Theory and Practical training sessions mainly in centre but also in learners’ workplace.

The role will also include the delivery of coaching sessions to support learners in completion of the apprenticeship. This will take the form of regular progress review meetings with both learners and their employers.

The role will also require you to support the progressive development of the apprenticeship assessment / training materials and working in conjunction with the Gen 2 Engineering delivery team.

Ideally we are looking for experienced Teachers/ Instructors/ Trainers but If you do not have teaching qualifications yet but you have a solid experience in mechanical discipline with an ability to look after projects and design programmes we would also want to hear from you.

Gen2 was established in 2000 and specialises in the Engineering, Nuclear, and Manufacturing sectors. In May 2017 Gen2 joined City & Guilds and became a City & Guilds business.

Gen2 is based in a picturesque Cumbria and has been recently awarded Ofsted Good in all areas. We offer excellent opportunity to work from our new and modern centres based in Carlisle, Workington and Ulverston. The delivery of mechanical training will mainly take place in Ulverston now(LA12 7NE) but we would like the candidate to be flexible to work between the locations mentioned above. The successful candidate will be contracted to Ulverston and Gen2 will cover the expense of travelling between the sites (when required).

We offer an amazing teaching opportunity. The majority of our learners are apprentices with excellent work ethic, eager to learn and great attendance record so teaching at Gen 2 is a pleasure! You will be mainly working with small groups of students in our lovely modern centres based within easy reach of the Lake District.

Our students are genuinely interested in what we teach them and demonstrate some exceptional learner behaviours.

By joining Gen2 you will also benefit from 25 days holidays and Christmas Closure. You do not need to take holiday in term time so you have a freedom on deciding when you will be off.

City & Guilds are a Disability confident employer. Please let us know if you require any support/adjustments at your interview and if successful any adjustments needed to support you in your role. If this is required, please email; [emailprotected]

This appointment will be made on merit.
