About the Role

The Design and Technology department at the City Academy Hackney offers students Food Technology, Textiles, Graphics, and Resistant Materials. As Technician, you will join a team of three teaching staff and be responsible for offering technical support across all subject areas. You will ensure all resources and work areas are set up ahead of lessons and cleared down afterwards — including cleaning and maintaining the prep kitchen, sinks, hobs and workstations; checking and maintaining machines and hand tools; monitoring, ordering and storing materials and equipment. The role will also involve actively assisting staff and students in the classroom.

This is a part-time Technician role, operating across 3 days per week. It is suitable for applicants seeking to flexibly combine employment with further study, family responsibilities or creative/business practice. You must have administrative experience and either possess relevant technical skills or be willing to undertake training. A sound knowledge of health and safety is essential. Other requirements include good organisational and teamwork skills, the ability to communicate effectively with both staff and students, and the ability to use your initiative to resolve problems.
