We are seeking a motivated AWS DevOps Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will help build and maintain our cloud infrastructure on AWS using Terraform, implement DevOps best practices, and support our development teams in delivering high-quality software. You will work alongside the DevOps Lead and collaborate with the Head of Delivery and Director of Security on various projects and initiatives. You will work primarily with core AWS services and help optimize our infrastructure for security, scalability, and cost-effectiveness. Key Responsibilities:
- Infrastructure Implementation and Support: Implement and maintain cloud infrastructure solutions using Terraform designed and implemented with the DevOps Lead. Focus on building scalable and maintainable infrastructure that supports software delivery pipelines and application requirements while establishing and following DevOps best practices within the organisation.
- AWS Service Management: Deploy and manage core AWS services including EC2, S3, VPC, and ECS to support application deployment and operations.
- CI/CD Pipeline Development: Build and improve CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions to create Docker images, push to Amazon ECR, and automate deployment processes for continuous integration and delivery.
- Container Orchestration: Work with Docker containers and manage deployments on Amazon ECS, implementing auto-scaling and load balancing solutions.
- Security and Access Management: Implement AWS security best practices, including IAM permissions, AWS Organizations, Secrets Manager for credentials, and security groups to ensure secure cloud resources.
- Cloudflare Integration: Configure and maintain Cloudflare services for DNS management, CDN, and DDoS protection to enhance security and performance.
- Monitoring and Optimization: Implement monitoring solutions using AWS CloudWatch and related tools to ensure system health and performance while optimizing resource utilization.
- Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Create and maintain documentation for infrastructure components and deployment processes, promoting DevOps best practices across the organization.
- Cross-team Collaboration and Support: Integrate with multiple development teams to assist with the delivery of software and services into both production and non-production environments, providing DevOps expertise and support throughout the deployment lifecycle. Handle Business As Usual (BAU) tasks to support ongoing operations, troubleshoot issues, and maintain system reliability for development teams.
Required Experience:
- 5 years of experience in a DevOps or similar technical role
- Hands-on experience with ECS/Docker, VPC Networking, Secrets Management, GitHub Actions, Terraform, as well as other AWS services including EC2, S3, and IAM
- Proficiency with Terraform for infrastructure as code implementation (brief Technical interview will include establishing Terraform proficiency)
- Experience with containerization using Docker and Amazon ECS
- Knowledge of AWS security best practices and IAM permission management
- Experience with version control systems, particularly Git and GitHub
- Provable scripting skills in Bash and any experience with Python, PHP, Node or other modern languages would be useful
- Understanding of CI/CD concepts and experience with related tools
- Understanding of the workings of AWS Organizations and multi account structures
Preferred Certifications / Experience:
- AWS Certified Associate/Professional with interest in completing further
