The Cattle Information Service (CIS), one of the UK’s leading providers of milk recording and herd management services, is seeking to appoint a permanent Area Manager (AM) covering Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. This varied role will be responsible for effectively maintaining existing customer relations and generating new business within the area.
This is delivered through managing the team of employed and self‑employed milk recorders within the area, ensuring that they are supported with training and feel motivated and equipped to deliver the high level of service which The CIS prides itself on. The AM will also support and work with the Head of Field Services in the management and support of CIS operations. The role is home based, though requires travel throughout the area.

- Oversee the efficient and effective day‑to‑day operations of The CIS field services within the area
- Identify any issues that arise which might cause reduction in data quality and/or operational performance
- Identify, access, and inform the Head of Field Services of internal and external issues that affect the organisation
- Promote, develop, and maintain CIS services and products
- Ensure that all processes are continually reviewed and streamlined
- Liaise with The CIS processing and laboratory staff to ensure efficient use of resource and systems
- Support a team of milk recorders and contractors in ensuring they have the training and resources required to fulfil their role
- Coach and mentor staff as appropriate to improve performance
- To ensure all company policies are understood and adhered to
- Always ensure health, safety and legal compliance for yourself, colleagues, and customers
- To always ensure spend is within budget and reduce costs where possible
- Process milk recorder monthly payments
- Maintain customer relations records in a timely and accurate way
- To always respect your customers and co-workers
- To always act with integrity for the business
- Represent The CIS at area and national industry events when required
- To support additional projects delivered by the company when required
