This position exists within the Statutory Accounting team and will report into the Statutory Accounting Senior Manager. Team responsibilities include Statutory Reporting including preparation of Financial Statements, External Audit Management, management reporting for Holding Companies, and Regulatory Reporting. The team is responsible for communication of financial results to multiple Boards and Committees and works closely with the Senior Leadership Team in achieving reporting objectives for the businesses. Team reporting responsibilities extend to multiple jurisdictions.
The principal responsibilities of this role are to ensure that all Management and Statutory Reporting is met for the nine global holding companies across multiple regional jurisdictions, to ensure that the Group Financial Consolidation is prepared in line with Solvency II reporting requirements and that a high level of Financial Stewardship of Cigna Global Insurance Company (“CGIC”) is maintained.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Team Management: The role has 2 direct reports.
- European Solvency II Reporting: Review and sign off the finance consolidation outputs for completeness and accuracy. Lead engagement with the European stakeholders from Risk and Finance to ensure accurate and timely completion of the European Group Consolidation. Responsible for ensuring the Solvency II quarterly and annual consolidation reporting is completed in line with regulatory requirements. Responsible for managing the addition/removal of new European Group entities from the European Solvency II Group and evolving the Solvency II reporting requirements as appropriate.
- Cigna Global Insurance Company – Financial Stewardship: Quarterly review of the consolidated business line financials and submission to the Risk team and external advisors. Finance lead for business line engagement and reviews of financial performance. Quarterly review of forecast balance sheet which is needed for input into capital planning process. Audit support and ensure annual deliverables and timelines are met. Review of quarterly financial results and presentation of these at Guernsey Manco meetings. Review of annual audited financial statements working with local experts in Guernsey and the US to ensure compliance with US GAAP and Guernsey reporting requirements.
- Management Reporting and Control Environment: Responsible for all reporting of nine global holding companies (monthly and quarterly management reporting) in line with internal close deadlines. This includes quarterly forecasting, annual accounts and financial statements as well as audit management and assistance with tax packs and VAT returns. Review and approve the monthly balance sheet reconciliations produced by team members. Review management accounts for the Bermuda and Belgium incorporated global holding companies and liaise with external advisors. Review quarterly budgets.
- Statutory and Regulatory Reporting: Responsible for the regulatory reporting requirements for each global Holding company through liaising with advisors and local country experts. Audit management – planning through to sign-off.
- Flows of Capital: Assist in the management of capital flows as it relates to facilitating discussions, providing technical accounting and company law expertise where applicable, drafting plans and communicating with stakeholders.
- Valuations and impairment reviews: Responsible for annual valuations of three of the European insurance companies and ensuring review and approval by Statutory CFO of Europe and external auditors. Annual impairment review of investments in subsidiaries for the annual audit of the Holding Companies.
Key Skills and Knowledge Experience Required:
- Fully qualified accountant with a strong technical knowledge in IFRS and FRS (some experience in US GAAP and BE GAAP would also be valuable).
- Previous experience of preparing statutory accounts and consolidation.
- External audit management.
