Job Description

Human Resources Adviser (maternity cover)

£42,835-£47,355

Working pattern: up to 35 hours per week, minimum of 28 hours per week

Edinburgh with Hybrid working available

The Human Resources team at the Church of Scotland are looking for an HR Adviser to join them for a period of maternity cover from January 2026 until end of December 2026.

As a department, we provide a comprehensive and professional human resources advice and support service across three of the employing agencies of the Church of Scotland. These cover staff working in the central office support departments, those who work across Scotland supporting the church at a local level and those serving overseas.

This role will cover all aspects of HR work including recruitment, employee relations, employee engagement, policies and procedures, learning and development with the opportunity to be involved in project work, including digital transformation and policy review.

You will be experienced in HR having worked in generalist, hands-on roles and will bring enthusiasm, excellent interpersonal skills and a proactive approach.

It is essential you have the right to work in the UK before applying to work with us. You will be asked to provide proof of your eligibility to work and remain in the UK if you are invited to attend for an interview.
