This management position provides information and communication services and leadership that enable the Church to effectively respond as the Lord hastens the work. The area ICS (Information and Communication Services) manager's purpose is to ensure that area technology needs are met. This is done by working closely with area leadership to understand needs, priorities, and directions, and assist in the creation of technology plans. The area ICS manager is responsible for all information and communications technology within the area, ensures users of IT are well served, and represents all aspects of IT. This role ensures that Church policies and procedures are followed. This role also communicates effectively with headquarters ICS and coordinates needs and solutions where appropriate. The area ICS manager leads the ICS team and ensures the right people are working effectively in their roles in a simple and affordable way. The area ICS manager reports to the area support services manager and is a contributing member of any area technology councils and committees. This individual works with divine guidance to provide or support technology that furthers the mission of the Church and reflects the eternal impact of the gospel.

Responsibilities

  • Provides trusted consulting to key area technology stakeholders as described in the area ICS support model and to headquarters departments and ICS divisions and portfolios. Helps them to understand how technology can and should be used to meet the area's vision and needs.
  • Identifies technology risks; recommends and executes actions to comply with policies and standards and meet area needs.
  • Ensures area compliance to global church policies, standards, and processes.
  • Works closely with headquarters ICS to ensure that all solutions meet headquarters ICS security and technical requirements.
  • Participates in the development and execution of the area's annual IT plan.
  • Manages the overall area ICS organization, delegating where possible all tactical work to others, including support managers, technical support representatives, and area technology specialists.
  • Manages the area ICS budget.
  • Manages IT vendor relations, services and contracts.
  • Is accountable for IT projects and customer support in the area.
  • Measures and reports performance of the area ICS team.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent professional experience
  • Work Experience: 9+ years of experience working in information technology, with 2 years working in a leadership role and strategic background. Sound experience in church leadership and superior interpersonal skills to facilitate interaction with key area leaders such as the ASSM, Director for Temporal Affairs, Area Presidency, and other area department managers.
  • Demonstrated Skills & Abilities: Ability to learn new concepts and new products as well as possessing strong troubleshooting skills. Strong technical understanding of Windows, networking, and troubleshooting. Ability and willingness to travel when needed. Requires excellent communication skills. Must be able to fluently speak, read, and write English.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree. It is expected that candidate resides or is willing to relocate within an hour from the Area Office in High Wycombe.
