Generous Giving Officer - Isle of Wight

Do you have a passion for helping churches thrive? As a Generous Giving Officer in the Church of England, you’ll play a vital role in supporting parishes to build healthy, sustainable patterns of giving on the Island.

What does this look like?

You’ll Work Hands-on With Churches To

  • Review current giving levels and understand financial data.
  • Spot opportunities for growth and introduce practical solutions.
  • Help implement easy, secure giving options such as the Parish Giving Scheme, digital platforms, and contactless devices.

You’ll also support stewardship initiatives – creating resources, delivering presentations, and guiding PCCs and clergy step by step.

Beyond the numbers

This role is about people as much as finance. You’ll:

  • Coach leaders on talking about money with confidence.
  • Provide templates for giving campaigns and improve financial reporting.
  • Promote good governance and troubleshoot practical issues like Gift Aid.
  • Work closely with treasurers, churchwardens, and clergy to plan for the future.

Through practical advice, training, and relational support, you’ll help churches build strong financial foundations – so they can focus on what matters most: mission and ministry.

Key Tasks/involvement

Be the lead contact on the island, in the implementation of projects developed by the National Giving Team, specifically in the next 3 years:

  • Clergy Training
  • Promotion of Legacy Giving
  • Roll-out of Digital Giving in low-income communities

Be the lead contact on the island, in the promotion, implementation and advice for exiting Digital Giving solutions across the Diocese, with particular focus on the mainland parishes.

Also leading in the promotion, implementation, advice and support for the Parish Giving Scheme across the island.

Full participation in the ongoing work of increasing knowledge and awareness of PCC officers, including Treasurers, Churchwardens and Trustees.
