Role Summary

The Digital Systems Implementation Officer plays a key role in supporting the successful delivery of the Fit for Mission programme by implementing and embedding approved digital systems that enable churches and Support Service teams to work more efficiently, collaboratively and sustainably.

Working closely with programme colleagues and local church teams, the postholder will configure and deploy approved digital systems, including Church Suite and Microsoft 365, support the migration of information from legacy platforms, deliver engaging user training and develop practical guidance to ensure staff and volunteers have the confidence and knowledge to use new systems effectively.

The role also supports churches through the transition to appropriate third party IT support providers, ensuring systems are fully handed over and local teams are equipped to manage them confidently.

The role combines technical implementation with user enablement, helping churches adopt new ways of working while ensuring systems are configured securely, consistently and in line with diocesan standards.

Key Responsibilities And Tasks Include

  • Digital Systems Implementation
  • Configure and support the implementation of Church Suite, ensuring modules are set up in line with diocesan standards for safeguarding, and local operational requirements.
  • Configure Microsoft 365 environments, including email, calendars, document libraries, Teams and user permissions.

Support the rollout of approved digital systems across Larger Single Parishes.

  • Provide in-person and online training to clergy, lay people and local staff in their new digital systems to facilitate improved administration and collaborative working
  • Create process documentation and training videos for bespoke and tailored use for digital platforms
  • Work alongside programme colleagues to deliver agreed implementation plans and project milestones.

Recommend appropriate third-party website designers where churches require new or redesigned websites, acting as a technical adviser during implementation where required.

  • Support the LSPs to set up third-party IT support providers, ensuring appropriate handover of systems, documentation and administrator access.

  • The postholder will: Act as the technical liaison between the Larger Single Parish (LSP) and approved third-party IT providers during implementation and handover.
  • Recommend appropriate IT support providers and website developers where required.
  • Coordinate the technical handover of systems and administrator access.
  • Ensure providers receive sufficient documentation to support ongoing maintenance.
  • Support churches in understanding the ongoing responsibilities for system administration following implementation.
