This role is responsible for strengthening the Church of England’s approach to racial justice learning. Working across the Church, you will review existing learning resources, identify gaps and opportunities, and develop a clear strategy and workplan to support future provision. You will ensure that learning is aligned, high-quality and accessible across different contexts, including national, diocesan and parish settings. Working closely with the Director, Deputy Director and wider stakeholders, you will coordinate delivery of the Unit’s learning and development work, ensuring programmes are well designed, appropriately targeted and delivered effectively.
Responsibilities
- You will be responsible for strengthening and coordinating the Church of England’s racial justice learning offer. The role combines analytical review, strategic development and hands-on coordination of delivery.
- Your first priority will be to review existing learning resources and provision across the NCIs and wider Church. You will use this to develop a clear and practical learning and development strategy and workplan, aligned to agreed priorities and learning needs.
- You will then coordinate the implementation of the Racial Justice Unit’s learning and development workplan, working with colleagues and partners to ensure programmes are delivered consistently and effectively across different settings.
Your Work Will Include
- reviewing and assessing existing learning materials, programmes and approaches;
- developing a clear learning and development strategy and workplan to address gaps and priorities;
- coordinating delivery of blended learning programmes, including face-to-face, virtual and e-learning provision;
- working with internal teams and external partners to design and develop high-quality learning resources;
- supporting the development of learning pathways tailored to different roles and contexts;
- gathering and using feedback and data to improve learning quality, reach and impact;
- building effective relationships with dioceses and other stakeholders to support engagement and delivery;
- contributing to reporting on learning activity and impact.
Qualifications
This role requires someone who can combine strong learning and development expertise with the ability to work across a large and complex organisation. You will be comfortable reviewing existing provision, identifying priorities and translating these into practical plans and deliverable learning activity.
You will bring experience of designing and delivering learning programmes (including e-learning), alongside the ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders and support delivery through others. You will also have a strong understanding of and commitment to the Church of England’s approach to racial justice and inclusion.
You Will Need To Demonstrate Significant Experience Of
- designing, developing and delivering learning and development programmes;
- delivery through others, including train-the-trainer approaches;
- strong facilitation and communication skills, both in person and online;
- designing and evaluating inclusive, accessible and effective learning;
- building effective relationships with a range of stakeholders.
A relevant qualification/accreditation in learning & development, adult education and/or coaching would be advantageous. An understanding of the Church of England structures, and experience of working in L&D in a faith-based context are also desirable.
