About The Role

As part of the Diocesan Lay Training Team, you will play a key role in developing and delivering high-quality training pathways for lay ministers and disciples. You will manage and support volunteer tutors, contribute to innovative learning initiatives—including hybrid and online training—and work collaboratively within the wider Formation Team to encourage Christian confidence in our churches.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver in-person, hybrid, and online lay ministry training.
  • Help shape engaging course materials, including self‑paced learning resources.
  • Recruit, manage, support and mentor volunteer tutors.
  • Contribute to enabling and widening participation in whole‑life discipleship for diverse learners.
  • Work collaboratively with teams across the Diocese to share best practices and contribute to the Diocese’s Barnabas: Encouraging Confidence programme.

About You

Dynamic and creative individual with a passion for equipping lay ministers and disciples. Experience in delivering training for adult learners, managing volunteers, and working collaboratively in a fast‑changing environment. A degree in theology or significant relevant theological experience is essential, alongside strong IT skills, including a willingness to engage with Moodle‑based virtual learning.

Benefits and Package

The package includes a competitive salary, flexi‑time scheme, an 8% non‑contributory pension with an additional 5% matched contributions, hybrid working (50%), Cycle to work scheme, EV salary sacrifice scheme and 25 days’ (pro‑rata) annual leave plus bank holidays and four customary days a year (between Christmas and New Year).
