The interim Bishop of Liverpool is looking to appoint a Canon Precentor to Liverpool Cathedral. Liverpool Cathedral is integral to the City of Liverpool and Diocese of Liverpool. Its construction is in the living memory of people. We say Liverpool Cathedral was built by the people for the people to the Glory of God. Liverpool is a city with two Cathedrals, and we share liturgy and worship on a regular basis with our sister Cathedral positioned at the other end of Hope Street.
The Canon Precentor will take responsibility alongside the Dean for the Music and Liturgical life of the Cathedral. They will be creative and imaginative in drawing people into prayer and worship within the Cathedral. They will be a person who thrives in working within a creative and dynamic team of people.
The Bishop welcomes applications from those who have been in Holy Orders for at least six years (Residentiary Canon) or for those who are coming to the end of curacy (Minor Canon).
