The Diocese of Derby is looking for a highly organised and proactive Executive Assistant (Governance Officer) to support the Diocesan Secretary (CEO) and ensure the smooth running of our governance structures. This is a key role at the heart of our organisation, perfect for someone who thrives in a varied and fast‑paced environment.
The Executive Assistant (Governance Officer) acts as a trusted partner to the Diocesan Secretary, managing priorities, communications, and projects to maximise their impact in supporting the mission of the Diocese.
The purpose of the role is:
- To support the Diocesan Secretary in ensuring robust, compliant, and effective governance across all diocesan boards and committees—in particular the Diocesan Synod, Bishop’s Council, and Business Committee.
- To support the Diocesan Secretary in ensuring that the organisation complies fully and effectively with Charity Commission and Companies House requirements and the GDPR.
- To provide highly effective administrative and strategic support to the Diocesan Secretary (CEO), ensuring the smooth operation of the Diocesan Secretary’s office and enabling their effective leadership across the organisation.
The role is extremely busy requiring excellent time management and organisational skills.
