The Diocese of Blackburn is seeking a prayerful, wise and visionary Chair of the Diocesan Board of Finance to help us deliver our refreshed diocesan vision: "Joyful Followers of Jesus – seeing lives changed and communities filled with hope." This pivotal voluntary role offers an exceptional opportunity to make a genuine Christian contribution to the life and mission of the Church in Lancashire.

Working closely with the Bishop of Blackburn, senior staff and diocesan leaders, you will provide strategic oversight, strong governance and financial stewardship to ensure our resources enable:

  • Knowing Jesus – deepening discipleship and worship
  • Sharing our Faith – supporting mission, evangelism and new initiatives
  • Loving our Neighbour – championing justice, care for creation and community transformation
  • Inspiring Young People – strengthening ministry in our schools and churches
  • Forming Christ-like Leaders – nurturing vocations and developing lay and ordained leaders

We are seeking someone with:

  • A mature Christian faith
  • Professional experience in business, finance or charity governance
  • Strong strategic, analytical and communication skills
  • The ability to lead with integrity, collaboration and independence

As Chair of the DBF you will play a crucial role in shaping diocesan priorities, ensuring transparent and robust financial planning, and communicating clearly with parishes and deaneries. You will be supported by the Diocesan Secretary, senior staff, and the Finance Team.
