It is an exciting time to join the Diocese of Blackburn and the University of Lancashire. The university, nearly 200 years old, is located in Preston, a city with a rich Christian heritage. As a Diocese, we see university chaplaincy as vital to our mission of spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ and fostering cohesion among faith communities.

We are seeking a passionate Christian to enhance student wellbeing through pastoral care and spiritual support. The Chaplain will be part of the Multi-Faith Chaplaincy Team within the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Department, supported by the Blackburn Diocesan Board of Education and our University Chaplaincy teams.

The role involves building bridges between Christian groups within the university and connecting the university with local churches and faith communities in Preston. The Chaplain will also engage in the pastoral life of the university, providing care especially during crises, and develop a Christian worship space at the Oasis Centre in Preston for spiritual nourishment.

The Chaplain will collaborate with other university chaplaincies, sharing expertise with the Anglican and Lead Chaplains at the University of Lancaster and the University of Cumbria. Deputising for each other may be required occasionally.
